It gives us immense pleasure to present Pharmaceutical Engineering, a comprehensive textbook prepared in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the latest syllabus prescribed by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi, for B.Pharm Second Year (III Semester) students.
Pharmaceutical Engineering is one of the fundamental subjects in pharmacy education, providing students with the principles of engineering that are essential for the design, operation, and optimisation of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes. A clear understanding of this subject enables students to bridge the gap between pharmaceutical sciences and industrial applications, thereby preparing them for professional practice and higher studies.
This book has been carefully designed to meet the academic needs of undergraduate pharmacy students while also serving as a useful reference for teachers and professionals. Every effort has been made to present the concepts in a simple, clear, and systematic manner using easy-to-understand language. Complex engineering principles have been explained with the help of suitable diagrams, illustrations, flow charts, to facilitate better understanding.
The content has been organised into five units, each further divided into well-structured chapters covering all topics prescribed in the latest PCI syllabus. At the end of each chapter, important questions have been included to help students strengthen their conceptual understanding, improve their writing skills, and prepare effectively for university examinations.
Although every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the material, we recognise that no textbook is entirely free from limitations. Mr. Hakim Singh Rajput has completed his B.Pharm from SRIP College Datia , (M.P.). He has completed his M.Pharm (Pharmaceutics) from NRI College of Pharmacy Bhopal. He is pursuing Ph.D. from Oriental University, Indore. He has gained more than 8 years of teaching experience in the department of Pharmaceutics. He has published a number of research & review papers in national and international level in reputed journals. He has published 6 books and Awarded with “Best Book Author’s Award in 5th National Editors Summit 2023. Currently he is working as Associate Professor in IPSR Group of Institutions, Unnao, Lucknow- Kanpur Express Highway (U.P.).
Mr. Arpit Gupta currently working as Assistant Professor in IPSR Group of Institutions, Unnao, Lucknow - Kanpur Express Highway (U.P.). He has completed his B.Pharm from Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering and Technology (Pharmacy), Bareilly (U.P.). He has completed his M.Pharm (Pharmacology) from Pranveer Singh Institute of Technology - Pharmacy, Kanpur (U.P.). He is pursuing Ph.D from Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Rama University, Kanpur. He has gained more than 3 years of Teaching experience. He has published a number of research and Review papers in National and International Journals. Her academic interests lie in the areas of Neuropharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Animal Handling, Toxicological Studies, Herbal Extraction methods and Pre-clinical research.
Mr. Virendra Kumar currently working as Assistant Professor in IPSR Group of Institutions, Unnao, Lucknow- kanpur Express Highway (U.P.) 209859. He completed his B.Pharm from Ambekeshwar Group of Institutions in 2023 and Completed Master's in Pharmacy with specialization in Pharmacology from Rama University in 2025. He has published a number of research & review papers in National and international Journals. Academic interest lie in Pharmacology, pathophysiology, Pharmaceutics, Toxicology, Clinical and preclinical research.
Ms. Mariyam Khatoon obtained her Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) degree from Amity University, Lucknow, and completed her Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) in Pharmaceutics from Integral University, Lucknow. She has over three years of teaching experience in pharmaceutical education and is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research, Sohramau, Unnao. Throughout her academic career, she has contributed to the field of pharmaceutical sciences through the publication of several research and review articles in reputed national and international journals. Her areas of academic and research interest include pharmaceutics, novel drug delivery systems, pharmaceutical technology, and pharmaceutical research. She remains dedicated to advancing pharmacy education and fostering research-oriented learning among students.
