About Book

Throughout this book you will encounter four recurring visual elements. Each one is designed to make complex medical information easier to absorb.

1. Tables and Comparison Charts: Used to organise large amounts of information side-by-side – for example, comparing PCOD vs. PCOS vs. PMOS, or matching life-stages to health-screening priorities. Read these slowly, row by row.

2. Doctor’s Alert Boxes: These are time-sensitive warnings – a sign on the skin that must not be ignored, a medication that must not be self-stopped, a household practice that may be doing harm. Treat these as ‘must-read’ interruptions.

3. Doctor’s Clinical Insight for the Mother: At the end of each chapter, a short note speaks directly to mothers. It distils the chapter’s medical content into a single, practical message you can act on in your household this week.

4. A Note for the Daughter: A companion note, written in the voice of a kind, knowledgeable elder, offering reassurance and an action step. Daughters can read these notes alone or together with a parent – both work.

A Note on Terminology
In May 2026, international expert bodies renamed PCOS as PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome). Because this transition will take three years to reach all Indian clinics and textbooks, we continue to use the familiar and popular term PCOS throughout this book. The science, however, is fully aligned with the new metabolic framing – every page treats PCOS as a whole-body endocrine condition, not a pelvic defect alone.
