About Book

Designed specifically under the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) NEP 2020 framework, Basics of Python Programming for Pharmaceutical Sciences bridges the gap between traditional pharmaceutical education and modern computational skills. As the pharmaceutical industry increasingly relies on data-driven decision-making, automation, and analytics, this textbook equips pharmacy students with zero prior coding experience with the practical tools needed to thrive in modern scientific environments.

Key Features

  • Pharmacy-Oriented Examples: Tailored exercises covering simulated molecular weights, assay percentage yields, dosage calculations, and dissolution profiles.
  • Step-by-Step Modular Units: Progresses logically from basic Python syntax and environment setup (Jupyter/Anaconda) to control structures, functions, and file handling.
  • Core Scientific Libraries: Practical, hands-on introductions to NumPy for numerical arrays and statistical summaries, pandas for data cleaning and grouping, and Matplotlib for professional scientific visualization.
  • Robust Data Ethics & Integrity: Emphasizes adherence to ALCOA+ data-integrity principles and strict reliance on synthetic, de-identified datasets for all educational simulations.
  • Comprehensive Assessment & Practice: Includes self-check questions, weekly laboratory session checklists, debugging playbooks, and university-style blueprint question papers.

"Programming is a practical skill. The only reliable way to acquire it is to type code, run it, break it, and fix it."
