This textbook has been written for undergraduate students of Radiology, Radiotherapy Technology, and allied health disciplines who must master two foundational subjects side by side: the precise language of medicine, and the legal and ethical framework within which that language is used every day at the bedside.
Part I builds medical vocabulary from the ground up — starting with roots, prefixes, and suffixes, and progressing to system-wise diagnostic, surgical, and procedural terminology, culminating in the practical skills of reading medical orders and maintaining electronic health records accurately.

Nitish Verma is an accomplished educator, author, and dedicated academician specializing in healthcare education and clinical diagnostic sciences. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology, School of Health Sciences, at Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU), Kanpur. Mr. Verma's academic and professional journey is grounded in advanced paramedical and radiological sciences, holding a M.Sc. in Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology (M.M.R.I.T) degree from the prestigious Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences. Prior to his tenure at CSJMU, he enriched his teaching pedagogy through faculty roles at recognized institutions, including Sanskriti University and COER University, where he instructed diverse cohorts of medical and allied health students. Complementing his academic acumen, his early hands-on career as a clinical imaging specialist and CT Technologist provides him with a rich repository of practical hospital insights. As a frontline educator, Mr. Verma is deeply passionate about bridging the gap between clinical theory and day-today healthcare realities.
