Python Programming for Pharmaceutical Sciences is a comprehensive undergraduate textbook designed for B.Pharm students following the NEP 2020 curriculum. Written by practising pharmacy educators, it introduces Python programming entirely through pharmaceutical examples making the transition from no coding experience to genuine data competence both accessible and relevant.
Organised across five progressive units, the book builds from installation and core syntax to pharmacokinetic simulation, clinical data analysis, and publication-ready scientific visualisation. Every concept is anchored in a real pharmacy scenario — dosage calculation, renal dose adjustment, adverse drug reaction analysis, bioequivalence comparison, or dissolution curve interpretation. Four tested practical programs accompany each unit, and exercise sets reinforce the learning through both short-answer questions and hands-on coding tasks.
Ms. Anu Sharma is an Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Metro College of Health Sciences & Research, with over 10 years of experience in teaching, mentoring, and academic development. She is passionate about making learning simple, practical, and engaging for students from diverse academic backgrounds. Her interests include educational innovation, skill development, and the effective integration of technology into learning.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she has contributed to academic publications and educational resources designed to enhance student understanding and problem-solving abilities. Through this book, she aims to provide learners with a clear, structured, and hands-on approach to Python programming, enabling them to build a strong foundation in coding and computational thinking.
Dr. Krishan Kumar Verma is Professor and Vice Principal at Metro College of Health Sciences & Research, with 20 years of teaching and research experience in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. His research focuses on medicinal chemistry, spectroscopic characterisation using FTIR, NMR, and MS. His teaching expertise includes medicinal chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and spectroscopic Techniques. He has guided many PG and PhD students and has published over 30 papers in SCI, Scopus, and PubMedindexed journals, along with books and book chapters, and has participated in various conferences, workshops, and FDPs. Dr. Verma has received the best teacher award twice and has also contributed to AKTU’s digital learning program through recorded lectures on instrumental methods of analysis. He serves as Vice President (UP) of the Association of Community Pharmacists of India (ACPI), and is a life member of APTI and APP. He is Executive Editor of the Journal of Drug Delivery and Therapeutics, Associate Editor of the Journal of Applied Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research, and a scientific reviewer for leading publishers including Elsevier, Springer, and Bentham Science.
Dr. Reema Sinha is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at Ram-Eesh Institute of Vocational and Technical Education with over 28 years of academic and research experience in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Computer-Aided Drug Design. Her research interests include anticonvulsant drug discovery, molecular docking, QSAR studies, neuropharmacology, and AI-assisted drug design. She has published more than 25 research papers in national and international journals, presented papers at several national & amp; international conferences, and contributed book chapters in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. Dr. Sinha has also served as Scientific Head for international conferences and actively guides M.Pharm and Ph.D. research scholars. Dr. Sinha has also received grant from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow.
