About Book

BMLT (B.Sc in Medical Laboratory Technology) course is an eighth-semester Allied Health Science degree course offered by more than 70 colleges across India. In the 8th semester of this course, the subject of Clinical Enzymology and Automation (CEA) (Paper code- YBM8002) is included. This course includes a detailed description of enzymes, their working principles, and their diagnostic importance. In various disease conditions, some specific enzyme concentrations are either elevated or reduced in serum. This makes it necessary to estimate enzyme levels accurately and interpret the results correctly, which can only be performed by skilled Medical Laboratory Technologists. In the healthcare profession, there has been tremendous growth in the last few years, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. Real-time (quick) analysis of pathogens and/ or assays of many biomarkers is performed with automated instruments to expedite the analytical process. Unfortunately, there is no book available in the Indian Market currently which covers this syllabus/ topic properly. While interacting with the BMLT students in JIS University, I realised this shortcoming. In order to address this issue, I aim to discuss these topics in a concise and systematic manner in my book, which may be comprehended by the undergraduate students easily. This book will be reliable and attractive owing to the use of ample pedagogical features like colourful images, tables, simplified schematic diagrams and graphical representations. Original (plagiarism free) content and representation of reaction schemes will make it unique and very useful as a regular textbook for Indian students.
