About Book

This book is a comprehensive and practically oriented resource designed to address one of the most critical yet often underemphasized aspects of medical imaging-artifacts. In modern radiological practice, while imaging technologies have advanced tremendously, the presence of artifacts continues to challenge image interpretation and diagnostic accuracy. Drawing from a strong foundation in radiation physics and radiobiology, this book systematically builds the reader’s understanding of how artifacts originate, how they manifest across different imaging modalities, and how they can be effectively managed. It provides an integrated approach that connects theoretical principles with real-world clinical applications.

The book is thoughtfully structured into multiple units covering a wide spectrum of imaging domains, including X-ray, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), fluoroscopy, mammography, ultrasonography, radiotherapy, and nuclear medicine techniques such as SPECT and PET. Each section highlights modality-specific artifacts, their causes, and practical corrective measures, making the content highly relevant for both learners and practitioners.

A distinctive strength of this book lies in its clinical orientation, where emphasis is placed not only on identifying artifacts but also on understanding their impact on diagnosis and implementing effective solutions. The inclusion of emerging technologies and future trends, such as AI-driven imaging and hybrid modalities, further enhances its relevance in today’s evolving healthcare landscape.

Designed for undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as radiologists, radiographers, medical physicists, and allied health professionals, this book serves as both a learning guide and a reference manual. It also supports educators in delivering conceptually clear and applicationbased teaching in medical imaging sciences.

Ultimately, this book aims to improve image quality, minimize diagnostic errors, and enhance patient care by equipping readers with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and manage imaging artifacts effectively.
