This is the first edition of the book “Self-Ligation - The Magic Bracket In Orthodontics”. The driving force that let me author this book was the eagerness on the part of graduating dentist and post graduate orthodontics, to know more about self ligation brackets.
Orthodontics is a dynamic field with changes occurring at a rapid pace. It has proved itself to be much more than a cosmetic field of dentistry. A recent interest in the bracket morphology and design features has proved that orthodontics is a specialization that need more than what is available. Orthodontics is also keen to adapt new technology to aid in treatment mechanics and patient comfort, with the same time reducing chair side time. The new technology and simple mechanics have removed many of the limitations of orthodontic treatment. The rapid improvements and advances place a tremendous pressure on the authors bring the latest advancement through the book. It has been my endeavour to bring to you the advancement in bracket design and mechanics.
An effort has been made to improve the overall quality of the illustrations, that have been painstakingly redrawn and enhanced using the latest available software. A number of photographs is also added to enable easy understanding of the subject.
Dr. Mukesh Kumar has done B.D.S. from Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore in the year 2006 and was awarded prize for outstanding performance. He joined Master of Dental Surgery in 2007 in the speciality of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at D.J. College of Dental Sciences and Research, Modinagar. During his post-graduation he attended various scientific activities and actively participated in various continuing dental education programme. During the post graduation studies he was awarded various prizes for his scientific presentations. Dr. Mukesh Kumar has done Ph.D. in the speciality of Orthodontics.
He is a renowned speaker in the speciality of Dentistry and Orthodontics and has delivered speech at various Indian dental conferences as a guest speaker. He was also awarded best Orthodontist award at Indian Dental Association conference at Patna in the year 2012 and 2014.
He has served Mithila Minority Dental College and Hospital, Laheriasarai, Darbhanga, Bihar as a Senior Lecturer in the Dept. of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Currently He is working as an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Dentistry at Vardhman Institute of Medical Science, Pawapuri, Nalanda, Bihar.
Dr. Sommya Kumari has done B.D.S. from Rural Dental College, Loni, Maharastra in the year of 2012 and was awarded prize for outstanding performance. She has multiple National and International publications to her credit. She has contributed in various textbooks. She is doing Master of Dental Surgery at B.I.D.S.H., Patna, Modinagar. During her post-graduation she attended various scientific activities and actively participated in various continuing dental education programme.
She is a renowned clinician speaker in the speciality of dentistry and delivered speech at various conferences. She was also awarded at various conferences and CMEs.
