Oral Submucous Fibrosis (OSF) is a persistent, incapacitating malady of the oral cavity exemplified by inflammation and progressive fibrosis of the submucosal tissues i.e. the lamina propria and the deeper connective tissues. OSF is characterized by a sequential decrement in jaw opening with advancement of disease, mainly due to formation of fibrotic bands in the oral mucosa. The characteristic occurrence of OSF among Indians and other Asians has prompted many investigators to search for etiologic factors that may be a part of their diet or environment. Oral Submucous Fibrosis and related diseases are dealt in depth in oral pathology but there in depth etiopathogenesis which explains its origin is not very clear with the student groups. Since we felt strongly about this aspect of dental curriculum, we have tried to compile relevant literature on etiology and pathogenesis of Oral Submucous Fibrosis. This is not a place where we are claiming any original research. Here the target is the dental students of both undergraduate and post graduate level and other medical professionals who are interested. It is a comprehensive attempt to cover all the aspects of Etiopathogenesis Of Submucous Fibrosis. It is not a voluminous book so that the reader does not get brightened by its site. Dr. Hina Mehrotra did her BDS from Rama Dental College of batch 2008. Presently pursuing MDS In Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology at ITS Dental College Hospital and Research Centre, Greater Noida. She has a number of publications to her credit both National and International. She has also presented many scientific presentations in various National and International conferences.
She is an active member of:
1. Indian Dental Association.
2. Indian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.
Dr. Shahid Shaikh has completed his master’s degree in Pediatrics and Preventive Dentistry from India. He is attached with various multi-specialty hospitals across Mumbai as a consultant in pediatric dentistry and maintains his exclusive pediatric dental practice. His areas of interest are children with special health care needs, sedation dentistry. He is actively involved in clinical researches and has a number of International and National publications to his credit. He has also presented various posters and papers. He is also awarded for the best paper in National conference. He have two books to his credit.

She did her BDS from Himachal Institute of Dental Sciences and has taken up the branch of Oral Pathology and Microbiology for her Masters in dentistry. She did her Masters from ITS Dental College Hospital and Research Centre, Greater Noida in the year 2015. She is presently working as Tutor at Indira Gandhi Government Dental College, Jammu. She has a number of publications to her credit both Nationally and Internationally. She has also presented many scientific presentations in various National and International conferences. She has a number of books to her credit as an author and has been a key contributor to many books for both National and International publication house.
